A temporary worker agency connects employers with workers for short-term or temporary positions. Miikahnah Connect connects companies with Indigenous Canadian workers, helping businesses fill staffing needs quickly and efficiently. We help you find employment opportunities while handling the Administrative aspects.

When you find work through Miikahnah Connect, you are technically employed by the Contractor, not Miikahnah Connect. We collect necessary information, such as your Social Insurance Number (SIN), and banking details, to process your payroll and ensure that direct deposits are made correctly. Rest assured, all your personal information is securely stored and protected in accordance with applicable privacy regulations. Miikahnah Connect handles all payments to you via direct deposit. Miikahnah Connect invoices the payments to the contract companies. All payments are processed based on hours recorded in our system.

Both the worker agency and the host employer share responsibility for ensuring a safe work environment. They must comply with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) standards. The employer will provide the necessary site or company training.

Miikahnah Connect temporary worker agency offers a wide range of positions across various industries, including administrative, industrial, and much more. Miikahnah specializes in specific sectors such as Construction and Demolition.

It's your responsibility to verify that the hours logged by the company are accurate. You should regularly check the hours entered in your account. If you notice any discrepancies, contact your supervisor immediately to have them corrected. Workers on our platform are ranked based on several factors:
  • Equipment proficiency and certifications
  • Years and quality of relevant work experience
  • Work history with companies on our platform
  • Attendance record and reliability
  • Reviews from previous employers
Maintaining good performance metrics helps improve your ranking and increases your chances of being selected for jobs.

There are two primary ways to get job assignments through Miikahnah Connect:
  1. Job Applications: You can browse and apply for available positions on our job board.
  2. Automatic Placement: Companies can search for workers based on experience and qualifications. If selected, you'll receive an automatic placement notification via SMS or email.
For automatic placements, you have one hour to respond. This limited response window ensures that all workers have fair opportunities to be hired.

Yes, you can leave a job at any time. While there's no contractual requirement to give notice, we strongly encourage providing at least two weeks' notice whenever possible as a professional courtesy. Frequent job abandonment without notice can negatively affect your ranking and future job opportunities on our platform.

You'll receive notifications about job opportunities and placements through SMS text messages and/or email, depending on the communication preferences set in your profile. Make sure to keep your contact information up to date to ensure you don't miss any opportunities.

Yes, Miikahnah covers WCB for all the workers on our platform. This covers any injuries that occur on-site during working hours, provided the proper injury procedure is followed.

They do not work directly for you as employees, but rather as independent contractors.

No, your company does not have to deal with the taxes or payroll of Miikahnah workers. You receive an invoice every week with a total cost amount.

Miikahnah intakes payment through invoices sent to each company that employs Miikahnah workers. Miikahnah pays the workers directly.

Miikahnah employs a two-step verification process, utilizing a thorough screening program where the worker uploads their resume and all there experience. They are invited to orientation before getting admitted to the HBC site. Worker's profiles also display reviews from previous construction companies & contractors, the number of projects they have worked on, & total hours worked.

The project manager/supervisor will be able to use a drop-down to enter late or no-show information. The manager or supervisor will have to submit another request for a new worker.

If you are self-employed, participation in the EI program is voluntary.

You are eligible to participate if the following apply:

  • You are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada.
  • You either operate your own business or work as an independent contractor.

To register for Employment Insurance (EI) as a self-employed individual, follow these steps:

  1. Visit the Service Canada Website: Go to the EI special benefits for self-employed people
  2. Create a My Service Canada Account (MSCA): If you don't already have one, you must create an MSCA. This account allows you to manage your EI registration and benefits online
  3. Register for EI Special Benefits: Once logged into your MSCA, follow the instructions to register for EI special benefits. You'll need to provide information about your self-employment and agree to pay EI premiums
  4. Wait Period: After registering, you must wait 12 months before you can apply for EI benefits
    This waiting period ensures you have contributed to the program before claiming benefits.
  5. Pay EI Premiums: You will need to pay EI premiums based on your self-employed earnings. These premiums are calculated similarly to those for employed individuals
  6. Apply for Benefits: After the waiting period, you can apply for EI special benefits if you meet the eligibility criteria. Benefits include maternity, parental, sickness, compassionate care, and family caregiver benefits

Version 3.7 Current

Sign in by text or email

October 16, 2026

Company contacts can finish sign-in with a text or an email. A mobile number does not have to be confirmed first.

For companies

  • When you sign in, you can enter a mobile number and get a text, or have the code emailed instead.
  • Check your spam folder if you choose email. It can take up to 5 minutes to arrive.
  • Check-In offers the same choice. Super admins still use a text only.

For everyone

  • Emails from the website now come from notifications@miikahnahconnect.ca. If you have a question, email miikahnahconnect@gmail.com.

Version 3.6

Photos, check-in times, and menus

October 13, 2026

Document photos upload from a phone, Check-In times round to 6 minutes or stay exact, and the menu icons show on every page.

For workers

  • On the sign-up form, a photo from an iPhone is accepted. Large photos are reduced automatically before they are sent, so a picture of a document is not lost.
  • Files you choose stay selected when you move between steps. If a file cannot be used, the form tells you which one.

For companies

  • Check-In times round to the nearest 6 minutes, or stay exact. The 15-minute option is no longer available.
  • When you copy a job, the new listing status follows the dates you enter. Dates that have already ended are marked completed. A start date still in the future is marked upcoming. Hours and invoices stay on the original job, and workers still have to accept the new offer.

For everyone

  • Menu icons show on every signed-in page.

Version 3.5

A text code when you sign in on a new device

October 13, 2026

Company contacts enter a short text code after their password. Workers are invited to turn the same option on, and can skip it.

For everyone

  • If you tick Remember me, this device asks for the text code once and then stays signed in as before. Do not tick it on a shared computer.

For workers

  • The next time you sign in, you can turn on a text code or choose Not now. It is recommended, and it is not required. You can also turn it on later from Account Settings.

For companies

  • The next time you sign in, a text code is required. If your account has no mobile number, you enter one and confirm the text before you continue.
  • After that number is set up, company contacts who cannot get the text can have the code emailed instead. Check your spam folder. The email can take up to 5 minutes to arrive. Super admins use text only.
  • Check-In on a phone that is not already signed in asks for the same code. Set the number up on the main site first.

Version 3.4

Saved invoices and staying signed in

September 16, 2026

Opening an invoice now always shows the copy that was issued, so later hour edits or a company name change cannot silently rewrite a PDF you already sent. Ticking Remember me also keeps this device signed in for several months.

For everyone

  • If you tick Remember me on the sign-in page, this device stays signed in for several months. Do not tick it on a shared computer. Sign out if you need to leave this device.

For companies

  • View PDF on Invoices opens the saved invoice for that week, with the same figures and company name as when it was issued.
  • A new work week is available to download after Miikahnah Connect has issued it. Until then the row shows that it has not been issued yet.

Version 3.3

On-site check-in for site managers

September 12, 2026

Company site managers can now check their crew in and out from a phone on the job site, and hours go to the same place as always.

For companies

  • There is a new Check-In app for site managers, linked from the home page and from your menu. You can add it to your phone's home screen and stay signed in on that phone.
  • Pick a day and you see everyone expected on site with their photo, job, and start time. One tap checks a worker in, one tap checks them out, and times round to the nearest 6 minutes, or stay exact, so nobody is flagged for being two minutes late.
  • Submit the crew and the hours appear on your usual hours page. If a check-out was missing, the scheduled end time is used and the day is marked so you know to check it.
  • If the punches are wrong, a site manager can type the start and end times in directly. Those hours replace what was punched and are marked as entered by hand so they can be verified. Weeks already marked paid still cannot be changed here.
  • Your dashboard now opens with a heads-up when a worker was left with only a check-in or only a check-out, or when hours from this week are still waiting for approval.
  • Taps still work with no signal on site and send themselves once the phone is back in range.

Version 3.2

Easier contract signing

September 10, 2026

New hires can now sign their assignment contract from a one-time email or text, without logging in.

For workers

  • When you are hired or assigned to a job, you receive a one-time link by email and text to review and sign your contract. You do not need to sign in.
  • Job-opportunity texts now include the link to accept the offer, not only a note to check your email.
  • Password-reset and tax-form emails now come from the same Miikahnah Connect address as other site mail.

For companies

  • Hiring an applicant or assigning a worker (with notify turned on) sends that signing link right away. The assignment stays unsigned until the worker accepts.
  • Worker Contracts can still resend the same kind of link if someone needs another copy.

Version 3.1

Hours, invoices, and pay files

September 5, 2026

This update makes company totals match what is actually billed, keeps sent invoices consistent, and stops paid weeks from being changed by accident.

For companies

  • Hours report totals on screen now match the invoice: only approved hours are counted as billable. Hours still waiting for approval are labeled and shown separately.
  • Downloading an invoice again keeps the same figures as the copy you already sent.
  • Worker payment files download while you are signed in. You are warned if the period overlaps a file you already generated.
  • Hours in a week already marked paid cannot be changed on the usual hours page. Those edits go through hours correction so there is a record.

For workers

  • Hours in a week that has already been paid cannot be changed on the usual hours page. An administrator can still correct a mistake through hours correction.

Version 3.0

Profile, contracts, and search

August 17, 2026

Recent changes that make it easier to manage your profile, find current work, and keep hours and documents in order.

For workers

  • You can hide your profile from company search in Account Settings without closing your account. While hidden, companies will not find you in worker search or the public directory, and you will not be included in group job messages or new job-offer email and text messages.
  • You can accept an assignment contract from a one-time link sent to your email or phone, without signing in.
  • Change Password in Account Settings now opens the same reset request used on the login page, so you can receive a reset email while you are signed in.
  • Your profile job history lists each assignment once.

For companies

  • Approving every day in a work week now marks that week complete as expected.
  • Assignment contracts can be saved as a PDF when you have access to that worker and job.
  • From Worker Contracts, you can email or text a one-time signing link to a worker who has not yet accepted their assignment.
  • Safety certificates on a worker’s profile open more reliably. If a certificate file is missing, you will be asked to upload it again instead of seeing a broken link.

For everyone

  • Job and project search hide finished listings by default, so current openings come first. You can still choose to show completed work when you want to look back.

Company and worker portals

The current company and worker experience launched, with clearer pages and stronger privacy for your account and documents.

For companies

  • The company area is organized into its own pages: Profile, Projects, Jobs, Applicants, Employees, Ratings, Hours, Reports, and Settings.
  • Company accounts can let some staff post jobs without also giving them permission to create projects.
  • If you open a worker you have not hired or assigned, you will see a clear message and a link to find workers.
  • Hours reports treat no-shows and cancelled shifts more accurately.

For workers

  • Hours, invoices, and assignment contracts are more reliable, including the start date shown on a contract.
  • Hours and reports are easier to read on a phone.
  • When you accept a job assignment, the site records your acceptance.
  • You can change the email on your account from your profile.

For administrators

  • If hours were entered incorrectly, an administrator can correct them so pay and invoices stay accurate.

For everyone

  • Your sign-in, profile, and personal documents are kept private and are only shown to people who are allowed to see them.
